Locomotives of China 中国铁路机车
Locomotives of China is a series of books which is intended to fill a large gap in available literature, covering the principal standard gauge (and a few metre / 1067mm gauge) locomotive classes in China, starting with the steam loco classes.
postage
Please note that postage costs for delivery outside the UK have increased significantly since December 2020 and shipping generally takes longer although the situation has now eased somewhat (June 2022).
As mentioned below, discounts are available for orders of multiple copies, both on the book price and potentially (depending on actual rates) to the postage costs.
DISCOUNTS AND postage - please note
Discounts from the prices shown may be available if ordering more than one book (the prices of all books have recently been reduced significantly).
Please also note that the postage costs (which automatically populate the total at checkout) are for one QJ Class (Volume 3) or one Foreign Steam Locos book (Volume 4) or one Pacifics (Volume 5) - these are heavier than the JF6 Family. If you wish to order one copy of Volume 2 (JF6 Family) and you are outside the UK, please contact me and I will usually be able to quote a lower postage cost.
If you wish to order more than one copy of any book, or a combination of books, please contact me for discounts and mailing costs before ordering.
About the books
The books are written by me, Robin Gibbons, and they are self-published. "Tynedale Publishing" is a registered trademark (of mine). The books are printed in very limited runs, a maximum of 300 books, so I guess I should trumpet them as “Limited Edition”! When they are gone, they are gone, as the economics do not justify a first edition let alone a second! It is not possible economically to do a reprint of the sold-out JF1/JS volume, but some of the information is covered in Volume 5 The Pacifics, including restated loco sighting lists.
This website is run by me to enable other interested persons to obtain copies of the books conveniently. Writing the books is not a profitable venture and by charging for the books I aim to recover the direct production and selling costs (there is some way to go to!).
