The Foreign Steam Locos is the fourth volume in this series on Chinese locomotives. The book covers most of the foreign-built standard and mainline metre gauge steam locos (not covered in other volumes, and not including the Pacific classes which will be covered in Volume 5), and also a few domestically-built locos, going back to Rocket of China in 1881. There are over 700 black and white illustrations. The book contains short summaries of the principal railways pre-1949, extensive references and a bibliography.
